My Life Motto
My Life Motto
"Be Comfortable Being Uncomfortable."
That's it. That's the motto.
What It Means
Growth happens outside your comfort zone. Every skill I have—React, Node, TypeScript, even PHP—came from being uncomfortable and pushing through anyway.
The Cycle
- Learn something new → Confusion, frustration
- Keep going → Slight improvement
- Hit a wall → More discomfort
- Break through → New comfort zone
- Repeat → Next challenge
How It Shows Up
At Work
- Taking on projects I'm not 100% qualified for
- Speaking up in meetings
- Saying "I don't know, but I'll find out"
In Code
- Learning new frameworks before I "need" to
- Refactoring working code because it can be better
- Reviewing my old code and cringing (growth!)
In Life
- Cold outreach for jobs
- Networking events (introvert nightmare)
- Sharing my work publicly
The Alternative
Staying comfortable means:
- Stagnation
- Outdated skills
- Missing opportunities
- Wondering "what if"
I've been there. It's not for me.
My Challenge To You
Do one uncomfortable thing this week:
- Apply for a job you think is above you
- Learn a new technology
- Post your work online
- Ask for feedback
The discomfort is temporary. The growth is permanent.
